One book seems to give rise to another, and so I find myself releasing my third book on science fiction titled Adaptations of Dune: Frank Herbert’s Story on Screen (available in paperback and ebook versions on Amazon). For this book, I decided to move into a new genre, film and television, and analyze how faithful each of the three screen adaptations of Dune is to the book they are based on, Frank Herbert’s Dune from 1965. This meant not only researching dozens of sources but also rewatching the films and replaying parts of them many times to take in everything happening. Books seem much simpler in comparison! Just the black text to look at. I’m glad that I took on the challenge of something new and hope that others will be able to build on this groundwork in future analyses of the book and its adaptations.
